You need to have a good taste to appreciate and enjoy their movies. The movies these two make are as different as chalk and cheese that comparing them is like (to use another cliche phrase) comparing apples and oranges. We are among the few who love both Kamal and Rajini movies. Not something to be expected of thalai!īoth Karthik and me are both avid movie buffs. And the other factor were the scantly clad girls in Annanoda Paatu. In fact, thalaivar looks really great as the villain king especially when he says Laka Laka Laka! Rajini seems to revel in these kinds of roles – Ah, we really miss Parattai in 16 vayadhinile and Kali in Mullum Malarum! One thing I really hated in the movie were the cheap comedy track. The movie was totally enjoyable with Jyothika stealing the show in the climax sequence. But, this is a thalaivar movie and we should learn to enjoy it just like that. Anyone who’s watched the Malayalam version Manichitrathazhu claim that it is a vastly better movie. Most of the characters including Rajini go missing from time to time. But, come on, it is a ‘Super Star’ movie and what is that without a few stylish maneouvers and stunts! But, P. There were a few fights that were unnecessarily sequestered in. And within seconds, someone threw confetti once again at the screen and as expected the lights came on again! This time, after a protracted lecture, everyone agreed to gather their wits and control their love for thalaivar. As everyone calmed down, the movie was restarted. The projection went off and the lights came on! The owner of the theatre didn’t want any confetti thrown around as it was a fire hazard.

There was confetti sprewn around and then came the spoiler. ’ sound started along with the now customary R-A-J-N-I characters, the crowd started going crazy. The best part of watching any Rajini movie is watching and enjoying the crowd enjoy itself! Here too, the movie started great, and the crowd was twice fooled by advertisements that had a Rajini like character getting introduced. So, just skipped it! But, knowing him – an equally crazy thalaivar fan, it would be an excellent review!īut, the lucky bugger got to watch the movie in India and that in itself is an experience of its own.

But, he had started the blog with don’t read this review if you are a Rajini fan. Will not want to do a review of Chandramukhi here, as Siva has already done it. First up, watched Chandramukhi at the Loehmann’s twin theatre here. Had the opportunity to watch both the movies on the same day last weekend.

It’s been more than 15 days after tamil new year’s day and the much anticipated face-off between Chandramukhi and Mumbai Express is now part history.
